Description (by Rebecca)

The AirShield series of glasses are high end sports wrap style with a deep foam-lined eyecup that fills the gap between the frame and the skin. This eyecup keeps out infiltrants, blocks airflow and increases humidity around the eyes, reducing evaporative tear loss and improving eye comfort, making them ideal for people with moderate to severe dry eye symptoms. They are available with many different types of lenses, from clear to standard sunglass lenses, polarized, photochromic, extra dark photochromic and also with built in plus readers.

The BORA AirShield frame style is one of the most popular men's frames (worn by some women as well). It has the widest temple-to-temple measurement of any AirShield, but that does not actually mean it's the largest frame, as differences in the eyecup have a big impact on fit as well.

How do I select a framestyle?

For the roomier men's AirShield styles, I would be looking at Bora, Diablo, PanHead and Whirlwind. Several other styles however are also a fairly versatile fit, like Taku Plus, Buran and Cape. See our AirShield Product Guide with detailed advice and Q&A on all AirShield framestyles including temple-to-temple measurements.

Description (from the manufacturer's literature)

Frame Technology: Airshield - Ultimate Protection

AirShield, with a Seal Protection Factor of 100, is made to provide maximum protection. Its patented Orbital Seal™ uses filtered vents to manage airflow and create a comfortable environment for your eyes. AirShield's rugged, non-air-permeable construction blocks wind, glare and airborne irritants from interfering with your vision. Its fast-drying fabric overcoat quickly absorbs and wicks away moisture.

Science of Fit: AirShield is designed for optimal fit

By mapping the territory around the eyes, we've created the AirShield to follow every contour of the face. This "Science of Fit" design creates a perfect seal around your eyes.

Versatility: AirShield is removable and replaceable

AirShield is removable for those occasions when full protection isn't required, or to replace a damaged or worn AirShield.

Filtered vents: Patented protection

To ensure healthy airflow around the eye and prevent fogging, foam-lined vents allow filtered air to circulate inside the Orbital Seal. No other eyewear offers this exclusive, patented protection from harmful airborne irritants and allergens.

BORA

The classic wrap design of the Bora makes it an excellent choice for sport and casual use. Its full wrap design is enhanced by the patented protection of 7eye's SPF100 technology that locks in moisture and blocks out wind, dust, pollen and other air-borne irritants.
  • Fits Faces: Medium to XL
  • Rx Ready: Yes
  • Includes: Case, Microfiber Bag, Leash

Usage and Care

What are these glasses used for?

7Eye AirShield glasses are designed for bikers and skiers who need solid, high end windproof eyewear. Because of the excellent seal this type of glasses provides, they are popular among dry eye patients.

The most common use is for outdoors (to protect against wind) and for driving (to protect against air conditioning and heating). However, the glasses can be fitted with clear or photochromic (light-adjusting) lenses, so many patients with severe symptoms use them indoors as well, especially if they are heavy computer users, because the moisture retaining effect both keeps their eyes more comfortable and reduces the need for frequent eyedrop application. For patients with especially severe symptoms and extreme sensitivity or pain issues, moisture chamber glasses like these may be the most reliable, most effective way to reduce discomfort to a manageable level while using a computer, driving or performing outdoor activities.

Cleaning and care

7eye glasses come with a microfiber bag that doubles as a polishing cloth. Manufacturer's recommendation for eye cup care: "We suggest not using soap and water but either gentle makeup remover or a baby wipe. Using small circular motions, and the tip of your finger with a baby wipe, massage the dirt away."

Replacement parts

The foam eye cup is removable and should be replaced when it wears out. Click here or see below for a link to the Replacement Eye Cup for 7Eye AirShield Frames. Don't forget to specify the frame style when you order, as the eye cups are different for every frame style.

Warranty information

7Eye glasses are covered under a 1-year manufacturer warranty. Contact the manufacturer directly (see 7eye.com) about warranty claims, or call or email us.
