    Description (Rebecca's)

This product is ideal for... biking and skiing. Why would anybody wear it for dry eye? Well, the fact is, they wouldn't if they didn't have to. But if you have a need and nothing else is working, then you try this.

    Who should consider trying these:

Guard Dogs Commander 1, Evader 1 or Evader 2 may be for you if:

    • You need pain relief. Period.
    • You need a really effective budget moisture chamber that will fit over your glasses.
    • You wear glasses, and you need a way to test out the concept of a moisture chamber and see whether it will actually WORK without having to spend $500 for prescription moisture chamber glasses just to find out.
    • You need something from home. Or can close your office door. Or just don't care, so long as it gets your eyes more comfortable.

They work very, very well. For some people in severe pain, home-bound, or unable to read, these can seriously make all the difference in the world.

Compare Commander 1 vs Evader 1 vs Evader 2?

    • Lens style: Evader 1 has a lens per eye, Evader 2 and Commander 1 have a ski-goggle-style single lens.
    • Sizing: From smallest to largest, Commander 1, Evader 1, Evader 2.
    • Vision: The Evader 1 is going to have somewhat more limited vision (bit more of the tunnel-vision effect) due to a seal around each eye.

      Limitations

      • Aesthetics.
      • Weight. They're not terribly heavy, but considerably more so than regular glasses, and a lot of people, especially those with dry eye and fibromyalgia, have a low tolerance for any weight on their face.
      • Strap, rather than temples.
      • The foam padding doesn't go all the way around - there is a gap for breathability under the strap. Since it's covered it's often not an issue, but some people fill that gap with extra foam.

      Description (Manufacturer's)

      Don't fit my face

These need to be air tight and they just aren't. And the gap on the sides to allow your glasses is really large and I didn't want to make the effort to fill it with my own foam

      Nice low-cost option

      I bought these because...

1.) I was in desperate need of relief (I have ocular rosacea and dry eye disease).

2.) I wanted to try out moisture chamber glasses/goggles before spending a lot of money.

3.) They were the only type that would fit over my glasses.

The moment I put on the googles the foam inserts immediately felt like sandpaper on my skin and caused irritation. But I was able to remedy this by folding a soft Kleenex tissue as a barrier between my skin and the foam. I might try adding some silk tape to see it that helps more long-term.

Yes, these goggles look absolutely wacky but on the plus side they do work and they are a great low-cost option. I was actually pretty amazed at how better my eyes felt at the end of the day. And as a bonus, my young children thought they were VR goggles and kept asking me “what I was seeing on the screen”, LOL.

Way to make the best of a rough situation :) Sorry that the foam was so irritating! Something to keep in mind if you end up later wanting to invest in high-end dry eye glasses - closed cell foams ( is less likely to irritate the skin. For example most of the 7Eye AirShield glasses, which have pretty thick foam, have a smooth closed cell type that I really like as it's less likely to irritate my skin if I have them on for hours in hot weather (for example) and as a bonus the foam is easier to keep clean. - And thanks for the review, I'd say that's the perfect context to understand Evaders!

      Guard Dog Evator 2 glasses

Not crazy about the head band but quite pleased overall... Smoke lenses could be darker...

      Awesome Sun Glasses

The Outfiiter Over RX Is the best sunglasses for dry eye. My eyes do not make tears. I have to wear prosthetic contacts. These glasses also keep the wind from getting in my eyes. I have the grey and clear ones.
