My favorite eye drops, just hate the bottle
Updated May 2024
Optase Dry Eye Intense has been on the US market for about four years now, in this multi-dose preservative-free bottle. It is one of very few products whose company launched the product in an MDPF bottle. They recently added a version in single-use vials, to be able to cater for everyone.
I think of Optase Intense as a good drop for the highly symptomatic, roughly comparable to Oasis Tears Plus. It's a good product.
It doesn't seem to have picked up much speed here yet. I would tend to attribute that to the bottle rather than the drop itself. MDPF bottles have been the standard in Europe for a long time, but much slower to gain traction in the US. Some people find them harder to use (especially true for those with arthritic hands) but they're handy, economical and produce less waste, so if you haven't tried one yet, there's no time like the present, as these bottles are being adopted by more and more US brands.
