About OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Foaming Eyelid Cleanser

    • Use to maintain good eyelid hygiene
    • Two sizes - 50mL (1.7 fl oz) and 180mL (7.25 fl oz)
    • Gently, silky foam cleanser

    Description (by Rebecca)

This is my personal favorite lid scrub product. An oldie but a goodie. It's very gentle and silky on my lids. I use it in the shower. For those who want something less messy or that they can use anytime, the individually wrapped pads of the same type of scrub (see link below) will be much more convenient.

If you've got active blepharitis this may not be adequate; you may need an antibacterial of some sort. Talk to your doctor, because there are a lot of lidscrub products on the market at this point, some Rx only, and we have many other "extra strength" or tea tree oil infused ones available OTC here in the shop. But for basic maintenance, this one is hard to beat. (Incidentally if you've been using baby shampoo unsuccessfully for a long time, it's time to move on to something more sophisticated. Baby shampoo can be very irritating when you have dry eye.)

    Label information

What is OCuSOFT Lid Scrub Foaming Eyelid Cleanser used for?

OCuSoft Lid Scrub foam is used for maintaining good eyelid hygiene. One of the most common causes of dry eye is blepharitis/meibomian gland dysfunction, where chronic inflammation of the oil glands in the eyelids results in a poor quality tear film that evaporates too fast due to lack of oil in the tear film. Keeping the eyelids clean and free of debris helps maintain healthy meibomian glands. Consult your doctor about whether you can benefit from a lid hygiene product and if so which specific product they recommend. There are many products available, most over the counter but some by prescription only.

    Instructions for use

For external use only. Wash hands and remove contact lenses prior to use.
    1. Pump desired amount of foam onto a clean, lint-free cloth, pad or fingertip.
    2. Close eye and gently cleanse lid using side-to-side strokes. Do not touch eye directly.
    3. Rise thoroughly. Repeat for the other lid.

OcuSoft Lid Scrub Foaming Eyelid cleanser

I have used this product for several years and really like it. It doesn't irritate my eyes and is very gentle on my eyelids. I use it twice a day, morning and evening, and haven't had any eyelid infections since I started using it.

    Has Been Very Beneficial

I have suffered from Sjogren's Disease related dry eyes for more than 10 years and have beenusing this product for the last 8 years on a daily basis along with Restasis. I also constructed a pair of rice eye warmers using Rebecca's instructions and ankle high nylong stockings and I use them for 10-15 once or twice daily. In combination these treatments and products have brought blessed relief to a condition that made life almost unlivable for two years! I too have experienced the problem with the pump plunger having to be manually pulled back up. I tried the manufacturers suggestion of tapping it against the counter and it didn't fix the problem. But it only takes one pump per eye to dispense the solution and two pull ups seems a small price to pay given the benefits to be gained!

    Problem with the large bottle

I used to buy the 7.2 fluid oz large size, and it would last forever. But there was a problem with the plunger on the last 2 bottles I bought. It would push down, but not come back up automatically. I would have to manually pull it up in order to get another push. So if I needed 3 pushes, it was a hassle - holding the base still with one hand while pulling up the plunger with the same hand (and pumping into the other palm). Very inconvenient! Now I only buy the small travel size, which works just fine.

    DryEyeShop

So sorry to hear this, Rae! We're forwarding your comments to the manufacturer. If this happens again, please let us know!

We actually have advice from the manufacturer of a similar product, which may help fix your problem with the pump:

"We have found that sometimes during transit the pump can get clogged. We don't typically see defective pumps, mostly just issues with clogging.

Fix: Unscrew top and tap on counter to get out any air bubbles or clogs and screw it back on. This typically resolves the issue."
