    About HydroEye

Science Based Health is a trusted brand that has been a key player in the dry eye supplement space for a very long time.

Please note that HydroEye has a manufactured date, not an expiration date. It has an estimated 2-year shelf life.

The manufacturer offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Money-back guarantees are outside our comfort zone as a business practice for dry eye products. However, we will honor the manufacturer's guarantee so long as you have purchased two bottles and try them for 60 days before evaluating effectiveness, as per manufacturer's policy. Please call or email though rather than using the self-serve portal.

About supplements in the Dry Eye Shop

Omega 3 supplements for dry eye have been commonly recommended for people with dry eye ever since (perhaps even before) the famous Women's Health Study in 2005 indicated that "a higher dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids is associated with a decreased presence of DES [Dry Eye Syndrome] in women".

We are now offering some Omega-3 supplement options in the Dry Eye Shop as a convenience to customers, knowing that you may well already be using a supplement anyway and thinking that you might appreciate the convenience of buying them here to bundle them with other purchases.

Full disclosure - we are not the pros on this product category! Unlike many other items sold here (eye drops, gels, ointments; goggles & glasses; scleral lens supplies; etc), I cannot claim to have any particular expertise or knowledge in nutritional supplements of any kind. As a business, we're not in a position to give you guidance on which supplement is "best". My goal is to stock a well-reputed brands and offer a range of prices, and thereafter to be guided by customer input about whether to add any more options. I strongly encourage you to ask your eye care provider about their experience and recommendations.

Expectations-wise, my position on supplements tends to be "Think of this as potentially offering you some incremental benefit". Dry Eye Shop attracts predominantly highly symptomatic people, many of whom have chronic and sometimes severe or rare diseases or conditions which often require multiple treatments and remedies to keep one's eyes comfortable and well. In people with milder disease and symptoms, using supplements as a standalone treatment may be more realistic than those with more severe disease and symptoms. As with all dry eye treatments and remedies, be guided by your eye care professional about what is best and safe for you.

    Description (Manufacturer's)

    • HydroEye has been clinically tested and found to support eye comfort, keep irritation at bay and maintain corneal smoothness in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center trial, published in the peer-reviewed journal, Cornea. Read more about these important scientific findings
    • A leading, doctor-recommended dry eye supplement that relieves dry, itchy and irritated eyes due to: age, tear deficiency, contact lens wear, computer use, frequent flying, LASIK surgery, and other causes.
    • Tip for new HydroEye users:
    • New users should try HydroEye for 2 months before evaluating comfort, though benefits may begin much sooner.
    • Patented oral formula works from the inside out to help promote healthy tear glands, and support normal tear production.
    • Features a proprietary blend of GLA, omega 3 fatty acids and nutrient cofactors that help soothe irritation, and support all three layers of the tear film.
    • Much more powerful than flaxseed oil or fish oil alone, HydroEye provides the unique omega fatty acid, GLA, from black currant seed oil – which is not easily obtained from the diet, plus omega-3 EPA and DHA from highly pure USP®-verified fish oil. GLA has been found to play a key role in dampening dry eye irritation in multiple clinical studies. GLA is not found in flaxseed or fish oil. View studies on GLA’s role in dry eye.
    • Offers uninterrupted relief with continued use; results typically experienced within 30-60 days.
    • Replaces or reduces the need for artificial tears/dry eye drops for most users.
    • Made from premium ingredients in NSF®-Certified facilities

Suggested Use: take a total of four capsules daily, with meals (two capsules taken orally, twice daily).

Note: use with anticoagulants may increase their effect and prolong prothrombin time. Pregnant or lactating women and individuals with known medical conditions should consult a physician before using.
