Updated May 2024

Optase Dry Eye Intense has been on the US market for about four years now, in this multi-dose preservative-free bottle. It is one of very few products whose company launched the product in an MDPF bottle. They recently added a version in single-use vials, to be able to cater for everyone.

I think of Optase Intense as a good drop for the highly symptomatic, roughly comparable to Oasis Tears Plus. It's a good product.

It doesn't seem to have picked up much speed here yet. I would tend to attribute that to the bottle rather than the drop itself. MDPF bottles have been the standard in Europe for a long time, but much slower to gain traction in the US. Some people find them harder to use (especially true for those with arthritic hands) but they're handy, economical and produce less waste, so if you haven't tried one yet, there's no time like the present, as these bottles are being adopted by more and more US brands.

If the bottle thing is new to you, check out this article (and video).

Eye Feels Great

This is one of the few drops that bring immediate relief to my dry eye. I use this nightly after removing my scheral lens. It helps tremendously.

Great for RGP/CRT users

A previous review indicated that they liked these drops for RGP lenses. I wear CRT, so I gave them a try.

I like these drops; they give me the best vision quality the next day – I think due to how well it maintains moisture. I also use eyewear at night. I like these Optase drops more than the Ivizia or the Oasis Tears Plus. But the bottle applicator could be better, as others have noted.

Good, but the drops drip off the bottle sometimes

I have moderate dry eye and do all the care for it, including these drops. They do help a lot, but sometimes the drops come out the tip and slide down the top of the bottle, which makes it necessary to touch the bottle tip to my waterline to get the drop to transfer to my eye. Not ideal. I must be using the bottle incorrectly somehow. Anyone have any tips to share?

Hi Alys,

Thanks for posting a review! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the bottle You really do want to try to avoid having the tip touch anything. Can you try making sure the bottle is vertical, so it can drop straight down?
