About LacriPure

~Shipping tip!~

To save on shipping, please try to avoid ordering just one box. The difference is huge! You may be paying $10 or more to ship one box (depending where it's going), but only $1 or so more per additional box after that. Use the shipping calculator in the cart to see for yourself.

Description (by Rebecca)

Menicon was the first company to go out and get a unit dose preservative free saline (albeit unbuffered) labeled for ocular use, and moreover, specifically for use filling scleral lenses (among other things). We applaud this step - it's about time someone recognized scleral lens users as a market in their own right - and encourage you to give them your business. For doctors and patients, it's definitely a more user-friendly approach than finding saline sold for nebulizers!

Ingredients: Purified water and sodium chloride.

Limitations

  • Not large enough for those who use a lot in lens rinsing/filling
  • Unbuffered saline, not tolerated equally well by all users
  • Expense

Alternatives to consider

  • Modudose (larger 15mL / 0.51oz sizing, and stands up on its own)
  • Purilens Plus Saline (buffered)

For more information about preservative free salines, please see our Product Guide to Preservative Free Saline Options.

For expirations of current stock, please call, email, or use the live chat button.

On and off-label use

Please note that several lens solutions that are routinely recommended by doctors for use with PROSE or sclerals are not labeled that way by the manufacturer so for you this may constitute an 'off label' use. Please make sure your lens provider / eye care professional approves any solution you are using.

Description (from the manufacturer's literature)

LacriPure is a unit dose non-preserved, 0.9% NaCl (normal saline) solution indicated for rinsing soft lens (hydrophilic), rigid gas permeable, hybrid and hard contact lens prior to insertion. The rinsing removes debris and bacteria following proper lens disinfection. This sterile, normal saline solution can be used to fill the concave posterior surface of large diameter (scleral) lenses prior to insertion to provide a more natural environment than currently approved multipurpose solutions which contain preservatives and osmolarity agents that are not designed to be held against the cornea for extended periods of time.

Ingredients

Sodium chloride and water.

Good product, nice to have available on-line

LacriPure was first provided to me when I started wearing scleral lenses 5 years ago. I have n't tried another product. One vial can last 2-3 lens inserting sessions. One box can last 2-3 months. The solution itself always feels clean and easy to use.

One other thing, thank you Dry Eye Shop! For the first couple of years I could not find LacriPure to buy on-line. I had to go to my eye guy, which was out of my way mostly.

Thanks so much for sharing! So glad Lacrip{ure is working well for you. Just a quick caution, though, about re-using the vials. The vials are preservative free and intended to be discarded after a single use, though some people stretch them out for the day. It's also an unbuffered saline, which means the pH does not stay stable after opening.

Works great for a new Scleral wearer

I've been wearing scleral lens for one week! LOVE THEM. The size of the LacriPure is perfect for me - one vial lasts two days. They don't leak when left laying on it's side. My lens are comfortable all day. Best price ANYWHERE.

Hi there, thank you so much for the review! I'm so glad to hear Lacripure is working well for you! Just a word of caution though on stretching this type of product out for two days. First, since it's preservative free, contamination of the open vial is a real risk. Second, it's not buffered, so the pH doesn't stay stable after opening. So, I would encourage you to check in with your eye doctor about best practice. Thanks again Rebecca

Easy to use

Like that they are preservative free and easy to use. You can travel with small vials instead of a large bottle.
