Bottles will not appear full - but they really do have 2 ounces! More info
For daily use, we recommend 4oz bottles (pack of 3 or pack of 12 bottles)
Description (by Rebecca)
Purilens Plus Saline, while it's been on the market for ~15 years, was not well known until a few years ago when Unisol 4 and Simply Saline (the only equivalents) were both discontinued. It is now the go-to product for people seeking buffered preservative-free saline, including for off-label use filling scleral lenses. For quite some time, Purilens was the only buffered preservative free saline on the US market, until Bausch & Lomb introduced ScleralFil in 2017, in boxes of 30 10mL vials.
We never actually sold Unisol 4 here at the DryEyeShop, but when Unisol went away and the only viable alternative, Purilens Plus, was not available in drugstores, we began stocking Purilens here as a service to our many customers who use PROSE or scleral lenses. It's been quite an adventure, as those who experienced the severe product shortages in 2016 can attest to! We are thankful that the supply has been steady for a long time now and grateful to the relatively small company that has worked hard to ensure this product stays on the market.
Alternatives?
ScleralFil, which is sold in 10mL single-use vials, is the only exact equivalent on the market at present. Unbuffered salines (i.e. sodium chloride solution 0.9%) such as LacriPure and the off-label nebulizer salines such as Modudose, are options for many users. We sell all of the different types here. The following video compares them:
TRAVEL: This is a TSA friendly size! Please note, however, that TSA rules apply only within the USA. See our Travel Guide for more information.
Limitations
Depending what you are using it for, you may not use up the entire bottle within the 15 days recommended by the manufacturer.
This 2-oz MINI size is expensive for daily use. If you can get it on a discount, it works out fine. Otherwise, the 4oz bottle are a better deal (unless you just can't use them within two weeks).
Description (manufacturer's)

Actions
Rinsing with PuriLens solution removes loosened debris from the lens surface prior to cleaning and disinfecting with the PuriLens system.
Keeps the lens wet (hydrated) during PuriLens System cleaning and disinfection.
Indications
PuriLens solution is indicated for use in rinsing, PuriLens system cleaning and disinfection, and storage of SOFT (hydrophilic) contact lenses.
Contraindictions
None known.
Warnings
PuriLens solution is sterile prior to opening. Because it contains no preservatives, it will not remain sterile indefinitely after opening and, therefore, should not be used as an eye drop. Do not touch the tip of the container to any surface since this may contaminate the solution. DO NOT USE IF SOLUTION IS CLOUDY OR DISCOLORED.
Precautions
Never reuse solution
Do not transfer saline solution to another container
Fresh solution should be used for every cleaning/disinfection cycle
Do not store lenses in water, or in a non-sterile solution
Use before expiration date stamped on container
After breaking the original seal, keep container tightly closed when not in use
Discard bottle and contents 15 days after opening. Record dated opened in space provided on bottle label
Never touch the tip of container to any surface
Store solution at room temperature
Adverse reactions
The following problems may occur
Eye stinging, burning, or itching (irritation)
Excessive watering (tearing) of the eyes
Unusual eye secretions
Redness of the eyes
Reduced sharpness of vision (visual acuity)
Blurred vision
Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
Dry eyes
If you notice any of the above problems, remove and examine your lenses. If the problem stops and the lenses appear to be undamaged, rinse your lenses using PuriLens solution, then clean and disinfect the lenses in your PuriLens unit and reinsert them. If the problem continues or a lens appears to be damaged, IMMEDIATELY remove your lenses and IMMEDIATELY consult your eye care practitioner. Do not reinsert a damaged lens.
If any of the above symptoms occur, a serious condition such as infection, corneal ulcer, neovascularization or iritis may be present. Seek immediate professional identification of the problem and treatment to avoid serious eye damage.
Directions for use
Inside the bottle cap is a molded insert that will pierce the container. To open the bottle, first remove the cap and discard the white plastic restraining ring. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle. Replace the cap then press down and turn the cap clockwise to pierce the container.
Rinse
Rinse, clean, and disinfect your lenses each time you remove them.
Rinse your lens thoroughly with PuriLens solution by holding the lens between the forefinger and thumb of one hand and directing a steady stream of PuriLens solution onto the lens for ten (10) seconds.
Always rinse the same lens, right to left, first to avoid mix-ups and put that lens into the correct chamber of the lens storage case.

Love this size.
This smaller size is great for travel and I also have given it to friends to try. It’s more expensive but worth when traveling.

Travel size saline.
Finally found travel size saline for us frequent flying scleral wearers. Plus it’s preservative free. Almost all saline is in larger bottles. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Love the smaller bottles, but...
I love the smaller bottles, but this product is crazy expensive. I’ve never had trouble with the 4oz bottles going through airport security, but the 2oz size is GREAT for traveling and for smaller purses when I go out. I still use the 4oz for everyday, but switch to the 2oz when traveling or going out. It freaks me out a little that the bottle isn’t full, but the explanation for that makes sense. All in all, I like the smaller bottles. I just wish they weren’t so expensive.
