Purilens Plus Saline, while it's been on the market for ~15 years, was not well known until relatively recently. It is
We never actually sold Unisol 4 here at the DryEyeShop, but when
For more information, please see our Product Guide to Preservative Free Saline Options.
Depending what you are using it for, you may not use up the entire bottle within the 15 days recommended by the manufacturer.
Please note that several lens solutions that are routinely recommended by doctors for use with PROSE or sclerals are not labeled that way by the manufacturer so for you this may constitute an 'off label' use. Please make sure your lens provider / eye care professional approves any solution you are using.
Purilens Plus saline solution is preservative-free, pH-balanced, sterile, aqueous isotonic solution of sodium chloride, buffered with boric acid and sodium borate. Does not contain chlorhexidine, thimerosal, or other mercury-containing compounds.
Rinsing with PuriLens solution removes loosened debris from the lens surface prior to cleaning and disinfecting with the PuriLens system.
Keeps the lens wet (hydrated) during PuriLens System cleaning and disinfection.
PuriLens solution is indicated for use in rinsing, PuriLens system cleaning and disinfection, and storage of SOFT (hydrophilic) contact lenses.
None known.
PuriLens solution is sterile prior to opening. Because it contains no preservatives, it will not remain sterile indefinitely after opening and, therefore, should not be used as an eye drop. Do not touch the tip of the contained to any surface since this may contaminate the solution. DO NOT USE IF SOLUTION IS CLOUDY OR DISCOLORED.
If you notice any of the above problem, remove and examine your lenses. If the problem stops and the lenses appear to be undamaged, rinse your lenses using PuriLens solution, then clean and disinfect the lenses in your PuriLens unit and reinsert them. If the problem continues or a lens appears to be damaged, IMMEDIATELY remove your lenses and IMMEDIATELY consult your eye care practitioner. Do not reinsert a damaged lens.
If any of the above symptoms occur, a serious condition such as infection, corneal ulcer, neovascularization or iritis may be present. Seek immediate professional identification of the problem and treatment to avoid serious eye damage.
Inside the bottle cap is a molded insert that will pierce the container. To open the bottle, first remove the cap and discard the whit plastic restraining ring. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle. Replace the cap then press down ad turn the cap clockwise to pierce the container.
Rinse, clean, and disinfect your lenses each time you remove them.
Rinse your lens thoroughly with PuriLens solution by holding the lens between the forefinger and thumb of one hand and directing a steady stream of Purines solution onto the lens for ten (10) seconds.
Always rinse the same lens, right to left, first to avoid mix-ups and put that lens into the correct chamber of the lens storage case.

Hello! Thanks for posting a review. Yes unfortunately Purilens is not available in drugstores, however, it is available in some other stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, so if you ever need to purchase locally you may want to contact them and see. Here's a list from the manufacturer's site: https://www.purilens.com/purilens_plus_BBB.html
Glad to find a place to buy my needed saline.

I've been using Purilens Plus for use with my PROSE lens since my PROSE lens Dr. Sotomayor,
formerly with Bascom Palmer Eye Inst., recommended it to me from my first visit with her

I use this as a filler for my hybrid ultra health FC contact lenses to insert. I have had great wear without issues with this product. So glad it was available to replace Unisol 4. NOTE FROM REBECCA: Thanks for posting! It's been 2.5 years and I'm still mourning the loss of Unisol, but like you thankful the Purilens company could step into their shoes. - Rebecca
