Most people refer to these as "removal plungers." DMV Ultras are what the majority of us use to remove our PROSE and scleral lenses.
In the rare situations where someone needs a different type, the DMV 45 may be an appropriate alternative as it lets you approach the eye at an angle.
The DMV® Ultra™ removes and Inserts Gas Permeable and Hard lenses by use of a small suction cup on a handle. This is the most popular of our GP products.
With the DMV® Ultra™, Insertion and removal are done fairly in line with the line of sight.
Removing gas permeable lenses, including PROSE and sclerals. Not suitable for removing soft contacts.
Moisten the suction cup of the DMV Ultra and guide it to the eye. Be sure the contact lens is centered on the eye before removing it. Align the suction cup so that it is positioned in front of and parallel to the lens. When the suction cup touches the lens, gentle pressure will make the lens adhere to the cup. Merely take the contact lens from the eye. It is safe and easy.
After removal from the eye, carefully slide the lens sideways from the suction cup and it will come off easily.
Place the clean wet lens on the insertion cup at the end of the handle. The lens will adhere in this position while being placed on the eye. Touch the moistened lens to the eye and it will quickly transfer to the eye from the insertion cup.
In the event that the suction cup would be unintentionally attached to the eye, merely slide it to the outside corner and it can be easily removed by turning.
Keep this and all other medical devices away from small children. Use of this contact lens accessory product not recommended with diseased or injured eye.
Caution: This product contains natural rubber latex which may cause allergic reactions.
Keep your DMV Ultra clean by washing it frequently with warm soapy water. You may boil or autoclave the DMV Ultra if you wish.
