    About Kind Removal Silicone Tape

    • Skin-friendly
    • 1" x 5.5 yards / 2.5cm x 5 meters

    Description (by Rebecca)

    Updated May 2022

This was the first silicone tape I ever used on my lids, and was brought to my attention by customer Neil many, many years ago. It is distinctly more skin friendly than paper or plastic tapes - the adhesive is not nearly as harsh on the skin. Two pieces makes my lid feel quite secure. I've had good feedback from many users over the years on this one.

This tape is sold under two names. "Kind Removal" is the hospital name. You can find it in your local drugstore as Nexcare Sensitive Skin Silicone Tape.

    Description (from the manufacturer's literature)

Its comfortable application and removal along with secure adhesion makes it ideal for patients with sensitive, compromised or at-risk skin, and better for all patients whose treatment requires medical tape.

Research confirms that upon removal, 3M™ Kind Removal Silicone Tape causes minimal epidermal cell stripping and less pulling of hair.

The silicone adhesive on 3M silicone tape is softer and more conformable than traditional adhesives, and works differently with skin and hair. Unlike traditional tape that increases adhesion over time, 3M silicone tape delivers constant adhesive strength for as long as it's left in place.

It is too wide I cut it down the middle. There’s too much adhesive And cannot be removed easily unless you use hot compress first.

Hi Sylvia, it sounds like this might not be the right tape for you. Our all-time favorite tape is called Mepitac, and it even comes in a thinner version: https://dryeyeshop.com/products/mepitac-soft-silicone-tape?variant=6474160177195

This tape is revolutionary for me!

One of my eyelids is paralyzed, and thus I cannot close it. I have special glasses that give some good protection. But, when I go outdoors on even a mildly windy day, that is not enough. I've tried all kinds of tape to hold the eyelid shut outdoors, but I end up holding the eye closed, which makes being outside really frustrating. But this tape has solved that problem! I put a nice square of it on so that it covers my eye, and then put my glasses over it. It firmly but comfortably keeps my eye closed. I don't feel the wind at all! I don't have to hold my eye shut! I can enjoy the outdoors again! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Gentle but no strong hold

This tape is gentle to the skin as advertised, however, the hold is not as firm as promised.

    Love this tape

Because of allergies to most adhesives I’ve only been able to use paper tape. It doesn’t hold for long. Never tried this tape. It stays and in removing I have No burns. I will be ordering more.

    Great tape!

Need to put in moisture cream and tape my eyelid due to a brain tumor 40 yrs ago. Tapes are just so compromising to the skin. This tape stays in place and is so gentle to remove! Finally found a tape to use after trying so many different kinds with so many issues. So glad I tried your site.
