    Before you buy

This type of product is often a trial & error process. We do our best to make the return process convenient. But we also suggest that you consider buying two or more at once and sending back what doesn't work out, or at least reaching out for advice first.

    Description (by Rebecca)

EyeSeals 4.0 is one of a series of moisture goggles developed by the company Eye Eco. It's a very effective foamless shield that fills some important niches.

How does it compare to Onyix/Quartz? Some key advantages:

    • More versatile sizing (more likely to fit men or anyone with large orbits)
    • Better moisture seal
    • Vaults higher over the eyes (eyelashes won't reach it)
    • Less likely to create skin indentations

On the other hand, a few disadvantages:

    • Larger and bulker
    • Not compatible with all CPAP masks

How does it compare to Tranquileyes? I would say that the moisture retention is almost as good, while it does not require all the maintenance and parts replacements. Plus, it's available in a clear version, so you can leave it on if you get up in the night. As a result, this has been my first recommendation for many new users - because it is so user friendly. Less maintenance, less hassle.

    Disadvantage or limitations?

    • Higher cost.
    • Relatively large sizing. May leave gaps on smaller faces.
    • Durability issues. The manufacturer warrants it for 6 months, and many people find that they need to replace it within a year.

Bottom line, this product is positioned in my head as "Almost as good as Tranquileyes at the moisture factor, without any of the drawbacks".

    Suggested best uses

    • Men. This is the first EyeEco product that fits most men quite well. It may be small for some men with extra large hat size.
    • Tranquileyes candidates. Many people who used to use, or who have been advised to use, Tranquileyes have switched to EyeSeals as a user-friendly alternative that is lower maintenance and does not touch the eye area.
    • Anyone with moderate to severe night dry eye who needs physical barrier protection but does not  anything touching their eyelids and/or prefers a transparent product for night use
    • Patients with excessive drying due to inadequate eyelid closure (Bell's palsy, complications from eyelid surgeries, etc). We find these vaulting shields often an effective and more practical option for such patients than products that will hold the lids down.

      Alternatives to consider

      Good product with faults

Mask is the best mask I have found for dry eye. It’s very effective. Main problem is that it tears apart at nose bridge area or strap tears on side of mask. I’m careful when removing mask but it has happened repeatedly in my experience. My spouse had tears in his mask in same area as I.

Even with its faults I still buy the mask to help with dry eye while .

      Ineffective and move too much

These seemed to fit my face but there remained a gap near the bridge of my nose. I could get it to seal but the tiniest movement displaced them and the gap returned. Did not work for me. Disappointed that I have to pay $5 for a return label. I should have read the full return policy rather than relying on the description saying it was returnable.

      Seals but doesn’t last

Only solution I’ve found that seals out the air from CPAP, and doesn’t touch the eye lashes. I’ve used blind folds that leave material deposits on the eyelid. Silicon won’t transfer even if it did touch the eyelids. Main problem is the material does not last more than a few months. The silicon stretches, thins, then breaks. My 2nd pair in 6 months is warped. The left eye socket has flattened and lost its orbital shape. The strap never stays fit. I’m always having to readjust it. I have found a solution - don’t use the strap it comes with it just set it very loose so it doesn’t pull the silicon mask. Strap a light headband around the whole thing to keep it in place. This will not induce wear on the silicon.

      evaluation of eyeseals 4.0

Work very well . My eyes were in bad shape when I got eye seals 40 and now they are doing just fine. Only draw back is they elongate in the nose slot and become loose after about 3 to 4 months.
