The See-Green product line has been a mainstay for many scleral lens users for more than ten years. It was developed to address the special needs of people who use large scleral lenses, and is uniquely helpful in many ways.
These products are an example of special niche products designed and refined by truly dedicated people. They are very thoughtfully designed and are manufactured to the highest standards.
The stand
Scleral lens stands hold the plunger with your lens, leaving you hands-free.
Rather than lifting a lens to your eye and relying on manual dexterity to keep the lens filled with saline and position it precisely in the center, you instead place your eye on a stable lens which is held by the plunger in the stand.
The stand performs two key functions:
- Allows for improved "lid spread", since you can use both hands for your lids.
- Holds the lens completely stable and full of saline throughout the insertion process.
These functions result in an improved lens application process as follows:
- More successful and efficient (e.g. for new learners, fewer attempts required)
- Less likelihood of bubbles in the lens (caused by spillage or incorrect lens placement)
- More comfortable and less stressful process
Scleral lens stands are a comfortable, reliable way for most people to apply scleral lenses, but they are particularly helpful for those with special lens application challenges such as tremors and those who have difficulty keeping their lids spread wide enough.
Indisputably best-in-class
So what's so special about THIS stand?
At first glance you might not appreciate all the effort that went into the design of these products. In this age of commoditized-everything, I think craftsmanship can easily go overlooked. Are there alternative stands? Absolutely - there are a few on the market (both cheap and expensive) and people are always making their own (and, as I said before, if you try that please be very careful). But for most people who use stands, this really is the best.
Is this kit for me?
This particular kit is for people who need the stand but NOT the lighted inserter. Each can be purchased separately.
