Rebecca's description
Blink Triple Care was first launched in 2022, and has now (1Q2026) added a preservative-free version.
If you like the original Blink Tears eye drop, then it makes sense to try Blink Triple Care.
Officially, this is a low concentration (0.25%) propylene glycol (PEG) based eye drop, but it's "enhanced" with lipids and sodium hyaluronate. It's low-to-medium viscosity, i.e. not very thick, but not super thin either.
Personally, my trial of it won't be helpful to you because I really don't get along with PEG drops in general. I tried this one at different times of day/night and different states of dryness and every time, it made me more uncomfortable. For me, it doesn't have that super-smooth gliding kind of feeling that I look for and it's not the right viscosity for me. Don't read anything into that though. I don't care for Starbucks coffee either :) Eye drops are a very individual thing. I may dislike what you like and like what you dislike.
In terms of the lipid, this was a good move on Bausch's part. Most major lubricant eye drop brands in the US have one or more drops with lipids at this point. Lipid-based eye drops are very marketable because people believe the lipid can replace the natural oils that may be missing for people who have MGD.
For context, here are lubricant eye drops with lipids:
- Refresh brand: Refresh Optive Advanced and Refresh Digital have castor oil, Refresh Optive MEGA-3 has castor oil and flaxseed oil
- Systane brand: Systane Balance, Systane Complete and Systane Pro have phospholipids and mineral oil
- Retaine: Retaine MGD Advanced has mineral oil and light mineral oil
- Optase brand: Optase MGD Advanced has sacha inchi seed oil
- Rohto (preserved only) Rohto Dry Aid has castor oil and sesame oil
Blink Triple Care has both a lipid and HA (hyaluronate) though - so, technically, that puts them in the same category as Systane Pro and Optase MGD.
I have to say I'm kind of puzzled about the Blink brand drops right now. There are two distinct families within the Blink brand, based on "official" active ingredients. First, there's the PEG-based drops (Blink, Blink GelTears and Blink Triple Care) and then there's the more recently launched glycerin-based PF-only drops (Blink Boost and Blink Nourish). However, Bausch has surprisingly discontinued the original Blink Tears PF and also the very new Blink Nourish. So, it's unclear where they're headed with this brand, but I'm glad they've made Triple Care preservative-free.
Manufacturer's description
What Makes Blink® Triple Care Unique?
The secret to the Triple Care solution is a water-based formula, enhanced with natural oil that can relieve evaporative dry eye symptoms; the added oil helps keep tears from evaporating too quickly. This allows it to relieve evaporative dry eye symptoms in a blink.
