Try the 3oz size of Clear Care Plus instead. Alcon discontinued the 3oz travel-friendly size of Clear Care Triple Action.
CLEAR CARE is the gold standard for overnight disinfection of PROSE and scleral lenses.
Using hydrogen peroxide disinfection involves soaking the lenses for a specified number of hours overnight in a special case filled with hydrogen peroxide solution and containing a "platinum disc" that neutralizes the saline. This disc can only be used a certain number of times, and should be replaced every two months. These discs are NOT sold separately; the only way to get them is to purchase a CLEAR CARE kit or similar.
The case included with standard CLEAR CARE kits cannot be used with PROSE devices and cannot be used safely with large scleral lenses either. Users with lenses too large for the CLEAR CARE case should purchase the PROSE Disinfection Case.
The only serious issue I know of when considering a generic is potential differences in performance of the neutralizing disc. Some data published in optometric periodicals suggests that the disc does not last through as many uses, which may explain why we've had reports in the user groups online about lens discomfort when using a generic.
For the standard case included in this kit (suitable for smaller lenses), it takes about 1/2 oz (15 mL) to fill it up to the fill line. However, if you use the PROSE Disinfection Case for larger lenses, it takes 1.5oz (44 mL) of solution to fill it up to the line.
Disinfecting your lenses is necessary for all lens users. Rub cleaning is NOT a substitute for overnight disinfection, and vice versa! These are distinct steps. For more information on your scleral lens care regimen, please see our Articles list.
The only hydrogen peroxide based alternatives in the US as of this writing (April 2019) are drugstore generics for Clear Care, and Clear Care Plus by the same manufacturer. Clear Care Plus should not be assumed to be superior. Based on anecdotal reports, a certain percentage of users experience filming on their lens and prefer Clear Care. Please consult your eyecare professional about whether they have a preference.
Alternative disinfection methods for scleral lenses include multipurpose solutions such as Unique pH and Boston Simplus.
CLEAR CARE® Cleaning & Disinfecting Solution uses the bubbling power of hydrogen peroxide to give your lenses some much-needed TLC. Our Triple Action Cleaning power makes lenses so fresh, they feel like new, but without the harsh preservatives found in your typical multi-purpose solutions.

DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD CLEAR CARE LENS CASE WITH EACH NEW PURCHASE OF CLEAR CARE SOLUTION.
Always follow your eye care professional's instructions. Please refer to the package insert printed on the inside of this carton for detailed directions and important safety information. Keep CLEAR CARE out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature. Once bottle is open, discard any remaining solution after 3 months.
Do not squirt CLEAR CARE directly into your eyes or burning and stinging will result.
Do not use flat lens case. CLEAR CARE only works with the special lens case provided.
Do not remove lenses from case for at least 6 hours. The solution needs time to neutralize.
Never rinse your contact lenses with CLEAR CARE before you put them in your eyes. If you want to rinse your lenses, use sterile saline.
If unneutralized CLEAR CARE solution gets into your eyes, it will cause burning and stinging. If this happens, remove your contact lenses immediately and flush eyes with a large amount of water or sterile saline. If burning or irritation continues, seek immediate assistance from an eye care professional.
TAMPER EVIDENT: Do not use if safety seal around the bottle cap is broken or if the carton is opened or damaged.
