Optase Allegro Eye Drops (10mL MDPF bottle)

This product has been on the market for well over a year. We did not stock it initially because the company's advertising was coloring a little too far outside the lines (suggesting it is an allergy drop (based on an ingredient commonly  used outside the US in allergy eye drops... a no-no because the FDA has very strict rules about composition and marketing of allergy drops). However, the marketing has been updated to comply with US rules so I decided it was time to add it to our lineup, as we really do like Optase brand drops generally.

The lubricant (active) ingredient is in Optase Allegro is "old school" and relatively low viscosity, so while it may give a cause a little blurring it shouldn't last long. With the MDPF bottles it's pretty easy to apply a very small drop (once you have a little practice) and that's helpful not just with keeping costs down but with preventing blur as well. Remember, your eye surface cannot hold an entire eye drop - the excess just drains out, so unless you're specifically going for the "flood" feel because you like the sensation, it's always good to keep drops small.

One thing that's different about this drop is it doesn't have the borate buffering system that is common to so many lubricant drops in the US.

Uses

Warning

• For external use only
• To avoid contamination, do not touch tip of container to any surface. Replace cap after using.

Stop use and ask doctor if

• You feel eye pain
• Changes in vision occur
• Redness or irritation of the eye lasts
• Condition worsens or lasts more than 72 hours

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed get medical help or contact a poison control center right away.

Directions

• Wash your hands before use.
• Before use please ensure the tamper evidence seal is intact.
• Tear off and discard the seal of the cap to open the bottle for the first time. Take off the protection cap.
• Tilt your head backwards and put one or two drops directly into the lower conjunctival sac (the space between the eye and eyelid) while gently pulling the lower lid downwards and looking up.
• Ensure you do not touch the eye or eyelids with the tip of the bottle.
• After use, shake the bottle downwards in order to remove any residual drop that may be left. Once you are satisfied that any residual drop has been removed, replace the cap.
• Do not touch the tip with your finger or anything else.
• After each use, replace the protection cap on the nozzle head to avoid contamination.
