One lovely day last week, II took a walk in the rather run-down neighborhood by my hotel in Hayward. Everywhere was wonder and brightness and color.

You take the most lovely photos of flowers. These are beautiful and remind me of Fall afternoons when I lived in the Bay Area. I was born in San Francisco and grew up throughout California. I last lived in Petaluma before moving to North Carolina in 1978. My family moved back, so I continued to visit about once a year until recently. I miss the place so much. It’s where my heart and soul are rooted in so many ways. I wasn’t made to live in a hot, humid climate at all. Thank you for these photos of street flowers, the kind people grow in their yards because they love the climate and are simple to cultivate. And the one of the incredible sky, such a Fall look, so blue and clear. It fills me with memories of my younger days.
