3-day trip to visit Chaidie & co

Taipei

Panos and I and our friend Tina took a quick trip to Taipei last week to see Chaidie and their partner, Naia. It was our first time there, and Panos' first time in Asia.

After a 13.5 hour flight, we kinda laid low the first morning. In the afternoon we headed out of town and went to a lookout in the Yangmingshan geological park with sulphur vents.

I fell in love with the bamboo trails. The winds were very strong and we appreciated all the protection they offered!

That night, we ate in one of the popular night markets with the kids and their friends. This is an awful picture (at least of me) but it seems to be the only one I have from that evening....

On Friday morning, we walked downtown... I really loved all the green walls (made with a ton of individual planter containers).

We did the touristy thing and went up Taipei 101

...which is a really beautiful building.

...with gorgeous views

On Saturday we took the gondola over lots of greenery towards the zoo

And that evening, we had dinner with Chaidie and a group of friends... at which somehow we managed to take no pictures at all.

But the most precious times were just hanging with Chaidie

Polaroid from the home they're renting. Left to right: Panos, me, Chaidie, Naia, Tina (Naia's mom).

Taipei's TPE airport has one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen. Here's the gate for our departing flight:
