Blink Boost Lubricating Eye Drops

This product gets a very simple description:

Blink Boost = Biotrue Hydration Boost.

That is, the ingredient list of these two products is identical, both active and inactive ingredients, and it's packaged the same way. Even the name suggest they are the same.

So, this is probably a marketing thing - filling a gap in the Blink brand family. That makes sense, despite creating the illusion of a new product. Refresh brand has kind of a similar thing going on with Refresh Digital and Refresh Optive Advanced (same products, different name and packaging).

Or - is Blink Boost actually different from Biotrue Hydration Boost?

If so, what could be different?

Salt, perhaps, at a stretch.

Bausch claims that Blink Boost has the "lowest salt content compared to other popular eye drops", while Biotrue Hydration Boost marketing does not contain this type of claim.

Unfortunately, we have no basis to compare the salt content of ANY eye drops - the concentrations of inactive ingredients, including salt, are closely guarded trade secrets. I suspect that Theratears, which was the first (and if memory serves, only) tear claiming to be hypotonic, was not among the "other popular eye drops" that they compared Blink Boost to.

Anyway, nothing against Blink Boost. I've always liked Biotrue Hydration Boost, and these two seem to be the lowest price drops on the market with hyaluronate right now, though if you want the really good pricing you'll need to buy them on Amazon or elsewhere. Sadly our cost is so high that even with low margins we had to set the retail price higher than we wanted.

One last comment: As eye drops go, this is a relatively short ingredient list.

Drug Facts 

Active Ingredient: Glycerin 0.5%

Purpose: Eye Lubricant 

Uses 

For temporary relief of burning, irritation and discomfort due to dryness of the eye or to exposure to wind or sun. May be used as a protectant against further irritation or to relieve dryness of the eye. 

Warnings

• For external use only. 
• Do not use if solution changes color or becomes cloudy.
• Do not use if tamper evident ring is broken or missing.
• Do not touch tip of container to any surface to avoid contamination. 
• Replace cap after using. 

Stop use and ask a doctor if you experience eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation of the eye, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours. 

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. 

Directions

• Remove tamper evident ring, then remove cap
• Tip bottle at a downward angle or upside down (to deliver drop to eye)
• Squeeze bottle to instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed
• Replace cap after use
