    Abut the Duo Shield

    • Budget-friendly post surgical goggle
    • Latex free
    • Available in two styles, vented and moisture chamber
    • See separate listing for Duo Shields with grey lenses

    Description (by Rebecca)

Classic style of inexpensive goggle used after surgery. You know those hard plastic tape-on shields? This goggle is basically those shields with a white foam lining for comfort and moisture seal and some elastic connecting the two shields as well as a thin elastic strap to hold it on.

Pros - inexpensive, very lightweight and reasonably comfortable.

Cons - very thin strap (so it may not stay in place, depending how you sleep); no actual seal because both types (see below) are vented. Some people cover the holds with tape. Also, not particularly durable as it is intended for short term use.

There are two styles of Duo Shield:

    1. 'Moisture retention'. This is NOT a completely sealed moisture chamber; each eye cup has vents near the nose bridge; but they will hold more moisture than the other one.
    2. Vented - This is the classic post surgical goggle with several air holes in the plastic eye cup - this is NOT a moisture chamber, but rather a protective shield to make sure nothing touches your eyes. It's a more comfortable alternative to tape-on shields.

As with everything you consider wearing over your eyes at night, make sure you check with your doctor to confirm it's appropriate for your situation.

    Description (from the manufacturer's literature)

Dual Eye Shield is a new, soft, smooth and latex free Foam Lined Eye Shield with a comfortable adjustable headband. They are the best devices in postoperative and post trauma eye protection.

    Eye Lid Surgery

They were great, easy to wear at night. Stayed on. Felt soft and comfortable. I brought them to my surgeon and he was very pleased with them and I left your card.

    Great product - fits well

Bought for my daughter who worries about getting erosions at night - they are a good fit with an adjustable strap. We bought a few pairs to try and she loves them. She uses eye ointment which gets all over the plastic and the foam seals - but washed gently with soap and water and rinsed well they are fine to use again once dry.

    Better than a taped-on post-op shield :-)

I bought these to use after eye surgery, instead of having to tape an eye shield to my face. These worked great for ocular post-op protection immediately after surgery (I brought them with me to ambulatory surgery dept, and the eye surgeon put them on me himself in the operating room when he finished the procedure). They are also lightweight and padded enough to use for post-op protection during sleep. Very cost-effective too.

    Exactly what I need.

I had developed floppy eyelid syndrome and found that I would wake up with very dry eyes and sometimes my eyelids would be everted. At first I tried an eye patch but it wasn't comfortable. I tried a sleep mask but I did not like basically sleeping in a blindfold every night. After some research, I found an article that recommended sleeping in goggles and a link to this website. I have found the Duo Shield goggles to be very comfortable. I use moisturizing eye drops and the vented goggles each night and I no longer wake up with dry eyes.
