This is not a new eye drop - it's just newly available in a different type of package and sporting a totally baffling name.
Refresh Tears PF is a Refresh Optive clone but in a multi-dose preservative-free bottle.
This means Refresh Optive is effectively available - albeit not under the Optive name - in all three packaging types:
- preserved multi-dose bottle
- preservative-free single-use vials
- and preservative-free multi-dose bottle (this product).
The MYSTERY is why on earth Allergan would call this drop by a completely different name - a name, moreover, which is used already for yet another eye drop. Here's some more context: Refresh Tears is CMC 0.5% (no glycerin) with a preservative. Refresh Plus is the same as Refresh Tears but preservative-free. Logically, Refresh Tears PF ought to be the same thing but no preservative. But no - they took Refresh Optive, bottled it and called it Refresh Tears PF. This makes no sense.

Drug Facts
Uses
- For the temporary relief of burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness of the eye or exposure to wind or sun.
- For use as a protectant against further irritation or to relieve dryness of the eye.
Warnings
- For external use only.
- To avoid contamination, do not touch tip of container to any surface. Replace cap after using.
- If solution changes color, do not use.
Stop use and ask a doctor if you experience eye pain, changes in vision, continued redness or irritation of the eye, or if the condition worsens or persists for more than 72 hours.
Keep out of reach of children.
If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
Directions
Instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed.
Prior to first use, please read the "Instructions For Use" inside this carton.
Other information
- Use only if tape seals on top and bottom flaps are intact.
- Use before expiration date marked on container.
- Discard 90 days after opening.
- Store at 59°-77°F (15°-25°C).
- RETAIN THIS CARTON AND THE INSERT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
