I've always liked the BioTrue Hydration Boost brand products and I'm glad we were finally able to stock them. This product is sold in both a 10mL MDPF bottle (that's the current page) and in single-use vials.
This is a very comfortable drop that lasts a decent time. I've always been a fan of sodium hyaluronate eye drops (though of course each one is different). I would never hesitate to recommend this as a starter drop or as a daytime drop. I think of Oasis Tears Plus and a couple of the Optase brand drops as the best choice for those with the most severe symptoms, then Biotrue Hydration Boost and Systane Hydration as kind of the "medium strength" workhorse eye drops.
With all eye drops containing sodium hyaluronate , there is a complication that makes it difficult and frustrating to compare any two eye drops on their merits. The complication is that the hyaluronate, which is a lubricant and may be listed as hyaluranon, sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid, is always listed in the "inactive" ingredients list. This in turn means that we are not told the concentration.
As a result, we can't compare any eye drops based on their concentration of sodium hyaluronate, which is really annoying. Why is this the case? It's a complicated regulatory anomaly. SH is actually not supposed to be used an active ingredient at all. Before you start blaming the FDA, believe it or not, this one is 100% the fault of industry. It's a long story and we hope it won't be too much longer before this problem is fixed - considering there are now more than 22 eye drop products on the market that contain sodium hyaluronate!
