Please see Ortolux Eye Bubble for a complete product description - that one is the sealed chamber, equivalent to NITEYE.

This one is the "Air" version of Ortolux, which has 5 tiny vent holes. These vent holes are significantly smaller than tape-on shields, so it would probably do quite a bit more towards increasing humidity around the eyes without being airtight. 

"Eye Bubble" (moisture chamber) vs. "Air" (vented)

These two Ortolux products are identical except for the vent holes. Check with your doctor about what's most appropriate for you. Often people who are purchasing these items are doing so specifically on doctor's advice but make sure you know whether they want you using something airtight or not. 

User tip

The adhesive on these is pretty rough on the skin! One of my customers had the bright idea to use their own medical tape under the adhesive flange on this to prevent the inevitable skin irritation strong adhesive produce. Great idea for a way to make this more ... especially since it is the only patch of its kind that in my experience will fit under glasses.


Clear, polycarbonate vented eye shield with adhesive edge, no need for separate tape. Universal, for left and right eye.

cover for night use

I ordered the large size which was much better, but I cut off the adhesive, as it bothered my eyebrow. Now I have improvised another cover from a device used after cataract surgery, which I tape on with two strips. As I have no eyelid that will close to protect my eye at night I must use some "hard" cover. During the day, I have a scleral prosthetic device from USC Eye Institute. It would be helpful to have the ortolux with vents and no adhesive. I have always been pleased with the dry eye shop's information, products and services.

Ortolux Air ( vented)

I had never tried the vented type of eye bubble before but I found these worked ( helped) for my dry eye condition. In fact I intend to order more.

That's the perfect description for this product isn't it!! They sure add up fast. We are so frustrated with the lack of quality products for this specific need.

Gail, I think you've already tried all the Eye Eco goggles, so outside of those, I think the best alternative I could offer for the Ortolux Air (vented version) would be the Duo Shield (or Solo Shield, for single eye). They are not the highest quality products and the strap is pretty flimsy but every now and then we have a customer who find that it exactly meets their need so I try to remember to suggest it.
