About Outfitter A/F

  • Deep foam protection
  • Can be worn alone or over glasses
  • Matte black frame
  • Choice of clear or smoke lenses
  • 5.5" wide x 2" high x 0.75" deep

Description (Rebecca's)

I stocked these for a long time, then got rid of them, then brought them back. I actually really like them, but my biggest headache was that I never knew if they would fit over someone's glasses even if the dimensions seemed like a good match. I hate that so many people had to return them... high on the hassle factor. But we didn't (and still don't) have any other strapless over-Rx options!

What I keep circling back to is:

  • For SOME people, they worked great over their glasses, so it's worth trying; and
  • They're actually really good on their own. For some people, they provide a better fit and better protection than any of the other "cheap" ones.

Anyway.

Like most goggle type things, they have a gap in the foam at the side that's covered by an earpiece. This gap WILL let in air. For some users, that's okay as it helps prevent fogging. Other users who need a total seal for maximal symptom improvement will end up wanting to plug that gap with some extra foam. (Note that Tranquileyes foam replacement sets are handy for jury-rigging goggly things in general.)

There are no magic answers with moisture chambers - it's trial-and-error, and, honestly, figuring out what your tolerance is for varying degrees of clunky goggly looks.

Small -- but might work if you have a small face and small glasses

Sadly, these did not fit over any of my glasses, including my computer glasses, even though I very carefully measured my glasses before ordering. So unless you have very small glasses they probably won't work for you.

In the time of Covid, I would not expect to be able to return any item which has touched my face, so I didn't ask. Just wish I had smaller glasses....and I cannot see without my glasses.

If you are fortunate and don't have to wear classes, they probably will work, and they look very well-made and when I put them on without my glasses they are lightweight and comfortable.

Thank you for your review! I find it frustratingly difficult to predict whether these will work over someone's glasses (in fact I think I have something about that in my description). It's not just a question of whether they'll fit over the glasses but for some people the Outfitter gets pushed out too far from their head for the foam to seal, even when it appears that it will clear the frame just fine. Anyway, I'm sorry they didn't work out!

Regarding returns: We are definitely accepting returns, in fact we're trying to make sure they're easy - we can either email or snail mail a label to put on a box that you can put in your mailbox. So please don't hesitate to reach out about returning them! We do not resell these if they're opened, but if they're returned in great shape we would typically clean them up and put them onto our freebies shelf for people who can't afford to purchase.

Good visibility for daily use

These over-Rx glasses have good enough optical quality for daily use and working on a computer. The frames do not interfere with vision like some of the "skiing" type googles. My only complaint is that they're just a little too small for my daily Rx glasses, so there's always a bit of an air gap. However they fit nice and snug over my computer glasses, and I often forget I'm wearing them.
