    Description (by Rebecca)

EyeSeals 4.0 is one of a series of moisture goggles developed by the company Eye Eco. It's a very effective foamless shield that fills some important niches.

How does it compare to Onyix/Quartz? Some key advantages:

    • More versatile sizing (more likely to fit men or anyone with large orbits)
    • Better moisture seal
    • Vaults higher over the eyes (eyelashes won't reach it)
    • Less likely to create skin indentations

On the other hand, a few disadvantages:

    • Larger and bulker
    • Not compatible with all CPAP masks

How does it compare to Tranquileyes? I would say that the moisture retention is almost as good, while it does not require all the maintenance and parts replacements. Plus, it's transparent, so you can leave it on if you get up in the night. As a result, this has been my first recommendation for many new users - because it is so user friendly. Less maintenance, less hassle.

    Disadvantage or limitations?

    • Higher cost.
    • Relatively large sizing. May leave gaps on smaller faces.
    • Durability issues. The manufacturer warrants it for 6 months, and many people find that they need to replace it within a year.

Bottom line, this product is positioned in my head as "Almost as good as Tranquileyes at the moisture factor, without the drawbacks".

    Suggested best uses

    • Men. This is the first EyeEco product that fits most men quite well. It may be small for some men with extra large hat size.
    • Tranquileyes candidates. Many people who used to use, or who have been advised to use, Tranquileyes have switched to EyeSeals as a user-friendly alternative that is lower maintenance and does not touch the eye area.
    • Anyone with moderate to severe night dry eye who needs physical barrier protection but does not anything touching their eyelids and/or prefers a transparent product for night use
    • Patients with excessive drying due to inadequate eyelid closure (Bell's palsy, complications from eyelid surgeries, etc). We find these vaulting shields often an effective and more practical option for such patients than products that will hold the lids down.

      Mostly great

My eyes are very dry after having LASIK twice and also because a blepharoplasty surgery resulted in my eyelids being unable to fully close when I'm sleeping. The combination has caused me a lot of eye misery over the past 20 years. I tried several options over the years to keep my eyelids closed but each one presented problems (crushed eyelashes, too much pressure on my eyeballs, etc.). Eye ointments didn't work for me either because they irritated my eyes and caused redness and discomfort. The EyeSeals are soft and very comfortable to wear. They don't touch my eyelashes, they don't put any pressure on my eyeballs, and they don't leave marks on my skin. I have a very small face and I don't find them to be too large, as some other reviewers have said. My only complaint is that the adjustable headband loosens during the night. It's not enough to allow the EyeSeals to fall off, but it's enough to allow some air to enter around the edges. It's minimal, though, and I still find that my eyes are not red and dry as a bone when I wake up in the mornings. Hopefully, the manufacturer will come up with a better adjustment mechanism at some point.

      comfortable, but a bit large

These googgles are comfortable and don't leave imprints on your face. The problem for me is that it is a bit large for my face, so the seal is not complete. Wish they made a size for females or smaller faces.

      So thankful I found these!

These goggles are fantastic. I've been using them for about two weeks now. I live in a desert climate, and I have severe MGD dry eye and recurrent corneal erosions in the morning. I also sleep with my eyelids partially open, which exacerbates everything. I've tried to use sleep masks before, at my doctor's instruction, but that would sometimes seem to make things worse, as it could sometimes trigger an erosion episode when I would lift it off my eyelids upon waking. I also don't like the feeling of not being able to sense light with my eyes closed, or glance at the clock when I wake up. I'm a side-sleeper, and these goggles are totally comfortable. They rest on the bone structure around your eyes, so there's absolutely no pressure on your eyes, and they vault high enough so that you can blink freely without the feeling that anything is obstructing your eyes or eyelids. Before I put them on, I use nighttime gel as usual, and spritz the goggles with a bit of filtered water, and they keep my eyes in a safe, moisturized environment throughout the night. They're easy to clean too. I'm a woman with a medium-sized face, and I was worried that these would be too big. I tried the Quartz ones for size as well, but those fit quite a bit closer to the eye. These fit absolutely perfectly, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who especially struggles with nighttime/morning dry eye. They are a bit sticky, so they do pull the hair around my face somewhat, but that's a small…
