US 101 Loop
We hit the road this weekend to visit the dog-friendly parts of Olympic National Park. Leaving Friday night after work, we car camped on a tiny stretch of the Elwha River within National Forest land. This was the sunrise view a few hundred feet from our campsite for the night. We drove a couple minutes into Olympic National Park and hiked the old paved road as far as we could. The road washed out in 2015 or so, and the overland trail doesn't allow dogs. We drove out about 20 minutes to the Spruce Railroad Trailhead on Lake Crescent....

Mountains and Waterfalls
Three mountains and six waterfalls, to be exact. I'd been itching to check a couple hikes off the bucket list. I'll mostly let the pictures speak for themselves. We car camped off forest roads in the Gifford-Pichot National Forest for free and rose before sunrise to make the most out of our time! We arrived just before sunset on Friday night off NF-52 and slept in the car off the Nisqually River. The stars were amazing! Some campers in the morning. Lake Cushman
From cloudy weather to road closures to accidentally ending up in Olympic National Park, last Saturday didn't really go as planned, but we ended up making the most of it! After a detour and a picnic along our favorite viewpoint we were ready to hike. With no service, we headed along along a dirt forest road on the north shore of Lake Cushman. 10 minutes in, to our surprise, the dirt road turned to asphalt and we were suddenly waiting in line at the entrance to Olympic National Park.
